WIRC Image Galleries

Systematically imaging every specimen in the WIRC—a collection of over three million specimens—would be a daunting task. However, we regularly capture images as part of our ongoing digitization efforts and research projects.

We have the capability of taking pictures of individual specimens as well as whole-drawer images. We presently have two focus-stacking imaging systems at our disposal. The WIRC also has a custom-built, whole-drawer imaging robot that we acquired during a previous imaging project.

We have organized some of our favorite pictures into galleries. As time permits, we’ll be adding additional galleries, so please come back and visit our site occasionally.

We hope you enjoy viewing these images as much as we enjoyed capturing them.
