Volunteer in the WIRC

Do you have a few extra hours a week? Do you want to make a meaningful difference while gaining valuable experience in a natural history collection?

Working in the WIRC can be tremendously rewarding. If you can dedicate a few hours per week and have the desire to spend time in the Wisconsin Insect Research Collection, please contact us.

We have a long list of ongoing curatorial projects in the WIRC that includes sorting bulk insect samples, pinning and labeling specimens, interpolating new specimens. We also have digitization projects that involve databasing and imaging—the list goes on and on.

While curatorial experience is helpful, it is not required. We are happy to provide training and experience in exchange for your willingness to volunteer. Reach out to us to learn more about opportunities to volunteer in the WIRC.
